PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming system, reading device, and image forming apparatus that can properly read an identification mark irrespective of a color of a recording medium.SOLUTION: An image forming system comprises: an image forming apparatus that forms a predetermined identification mark on a recording medium; a reading device that reads the identification mark formed on the recording medium; a color information acquisition part that acquires color information showing the color of the recording medium; an identification mark color setting part that sets the color of an identification mark to be formed on a recording medium by the image forming apparatus to a color that can be distinguished by the reading device from the color shown in the color information acquired by the color information acquisition part; and an image formation control part that causes the image forming apparatus to form an identification mark in a color set by the identification mark color setting part on a recording medium.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
