<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid polymer fuel cell superior in joint characteristics with an electrolyte membrane and a catalyst layer even when the electrolyte membrane and the electrolyte in the catalyst layer are composed of different materials or when the electrolyte membrane is a pore-filling membrane. <P>SOLUTION: The solid polymer fuel cell includes a membrane electrode assembly in which electrodes including the catalyst layer are bonded at both faces of the electrolyte membrane, and Pd/Pt particles containing Pd and Pt formed at the interface of the electrolyte membrane and the catalyst layer. The Pd/Pt particles are preferably obtained by means that the electrolyte membrane and/or a catalyst sheet is made to be contacted with a first ion exchange solution containing Pd ions, all or one part of hydrogen ions of acid groups on the surface are ion-exchanged by Pd ions, Pd ions are reduction treated, the electrolyte membrane and/or the catalyst sheet are contacted with a second ion exchange solution containing Pt ions, all or one part of the hydrogen ions of acid groups at the surface are ion-exchanged by Pt ions, and Pt ions are reduction treated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
