PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a forward osmosis membrane having high mechanical strength and dimension stability and high water permeability from a low concentration solution side to a high concentration solution side and capable of suppressing the diffusion of a solute from the high concentration solution side to the low concentration solution side.SOLUTION: In a forward osmosis membrane having an ion barrier layer (A) and a porous support layer (B): the ion barrier layer (A) is a laminate of an anionic polymer composition layer (A1) and a cationic polymer composition layer (A2); the anionic polymer composition includes a polymer having an anion group and a vinyl alcohol-based polymer not having an ion group; the cationic polymer composition includes a polymer having a cation group and a vinyl alcohol-based polymer not having an ion group; and the porous support layer (B) consists of the aggregate of polyvinyl alcohol fibers.SELECTED DRAWING: None
