PURPOSE:To obtain the endoscope system which can synthesize and display an X-ray image and an endoscope image in which at least the number of scan ning lines is different from each other. CONSTITUTION:An X-ray image signal in which the number of scanning lines is converted from 1000 pieces to 525 pieces by a scanning line converting circuit 34, and which is stored in an X-ray main memory 26 is read out successively from a CPU 52, subjected to brightness adjustment and enhancement quantity adjustment by a picture quality determination factor variable circuit 42, and contrast adjustment by a gamma correction, inputted to a synthesis processing circuit 44, synthesized with an endoscope image and patient information from an input means 20 and outputted as a composite image signal, and a composite image is displayed on a display monitor through a D/A converting circuit 46 and an NTSC encoder 48.
