PURPOSE:To obtain the subject gene coding a transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) receptor type II having a specific amino acid sequence, and giving a TGF-beta receptor protein useful for the therapy of cancer, etc. CONSTITUTION:The new TGF-beta receptor type II gene contains a base sequence coding a transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-beta) receptor type II containing an amino acid sequence of the formula, has a TGF-beta-inhibiting activity, and is useful for the therapy of various diseases including cancer, etc., by inserting the gene into a host cell for transforming the host cell and subsequently expressing the gene in the transformed host cell. The gene is obtained by synthesizing a cDNA in the presence of a template comprising a crude RNA extracted from a cell strain originated from human liver cancer, preparing the library of the cDNA, screening the library with a labeled probe, etc., extracting the DNA from the obtained positive clone, and subsequently treating the DNA with a restriction enzyme. |
