PURPOSE:To provide a lead a frame machining method, wherein a fine lead frame can be easily machined at a high speed and enhanced in dimensional accuracy and quality after it is formed, and a metal plate material can be restrained from being abnormally heated by excessive incoming heat energy. CONSTITUTION:A first step, where the irradiation spot of a laser beam is aligned with an inner lead 1103 along its longer direction, and the optical axis of the laser beam is moved traversing the inner lead 1103, and a second step, where the optical axis of the laser beam is moved along the longer direction of the inner lead 1103, are repeatedly carried out for the formation of the inner lead 1103. In the first step a laser beam is made to irradiate a spot which serves as a gap that separates inner leads 1103 alternately. Or, cooling medium is made to flow, through-holes 2501 are formed into discontinuous shapes arranged in a row like a broken line by laser machining and then the unmachined parts 2504 may be removed by etching. |
