An antiskid device for the tire of an automotive vehicle has a plurality of angularly equispaced stirrups which are connected to a support such that the support itself is not affixed to any part of the wheel. Thus the ring shaped or disk shaped support is held on the wheel only by the stirrups or any other antiskid elements provided, the support has sufficient intrinsic and form stability and a limited elasticity so that each stirrup is elastically held in both radial directions, and the stirrups have free arms engaging the inner side wall of the tire to prevent the antiskid device from slipping off the wheel.
