PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject resin composition capable of giving coating film excellent in solvent resistance, water resistance, appearance, curability and surface hardness through curing when irradiated with active energy rays such as sunlight, ultraviolet light, electron beams orγ-rays. SOLUTION: This composition comprises a copolymer obtained by introducing, as the side chain, hydroxyl-contg. (meth)acrylate(s), i.e., at least one compound of formulae I, II and/or III (R1 to R3 are each H or methyl; R4 is a 2-5C alkyl or phenyl; (m) is 1-5; (n) is 3-10), into an acrylic copolymer containing in the molecule 0.5-50wt.% of an acid anhydride group-bearing polymerizable monomer (e.g. maleic anhydride, itaconic anhydride) and having an acid value, on a solid basis, of <=150mgKOH/g.
