The interface (19,20) between the optical emitter (121) and sensors (122) of a turbidity probe (1) is kept clean by ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 20-50 kHz which cause micro-cavities at the sensor surface which implode and clean the surface between measurements. An Independent claim is included for a turbidity meter using the above process. Infrared light at a wavelength of 700-1200 nm is emitted and deflected light is captured by a sensor (9). The two optical pieces used are positioned at 30 deg to the surface. The probe is sealed and can be immersed totally in the liquid being tested. |
