PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin compsn. for expansion excellent in expansion and extremely excellent tn flame-retardancy, and an expanded matertal and a flame-retardant structure therewith. SOLUTION: This resin compsn. for expansion comprises 40-100 wt.% novolac phenol resin, 60-0 wt.% polyol, a reaction catalyst, a non-expanded heat expandable graphite, a blowing agent, and an isocyanate compd. This expanded material is obtd. by expanding the resin compsn. for expansion. This flame-retardant structure is obtd. by laminating a flame-retarded or non-flammable board or sheet at least on one surface of the expanded material formed by expanding the resin compsn. for expansion.
