PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polysilylenemethylene having an improved heat resistance and organic solvent resistance, and a method for producing a polysilylenemethylene composition consisting of the polysilylenemethylene improved with heat resistance as a main component and having a practical molding processing property. SOLUTION: This method for producing a polysilylenemethylene comprises reacting the aryl group of an aryl group-containing linear polysilylenemethylene A having a recurring unit of formula I: ArRSiCH2 (Ar is an aryl group or the like; R is a 1-6C alkyl group or the like) with a halogenating agent and reacting the obtained product with an alcohol or water to obtain a crosslinked polysilylenemethylene B. The crosslinked polysilylenemethylene B is mixed with a polysilylenemethylene C (weight-average molecular weight range: 1,000-5,000,000) having a recurring unit shown by formula II: R1R2SiCH2 (R1, R2 are each a 1-6C alkyl group or the like).
