PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having potent refractory period-extending action and useful as an antiarrhythmic agent. SOLUTION: This compound is a compound of formula I [R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-6C alkyl substitutable with halogen or the like; R3 is OH, a group OC(=O)R9 or the like; R9 is a 1-4C alkyl; R4 is H or the like; R6 is H, a 3-6C cycloalkyl or the like; R7 is halogen, a 1-6C alkoxy substitutable with e.g. carboxyl, or the like; R5 is a 2-pyridyl, 3-pyridyl or the like; R8 is H or a 1-4C alkyl; (n) is 0-4; X is a group C=O, CH2 or the like; W is of formula II or the like; R15 is OH, nitro or the like; and (m) is 1-3], for example, (3R,4 S)-6-(4-methoxyphenylacetylamido)-3,4-dihydro-2,2-dimethyl-3-hydroxy-7 -nitro-2H-1- benzopyran-4-benzenesulfonylamide. The compound of formula I is obtained, for example, by reacting the compound of formula III with a compound of the formula R5-SO2-Cl in the presence of a base in an inert solvent.
