A plasma display panel having substrates and, disposed thereon, electrodes comprising silver, wherein the electrode further comprises an element having a standard electrode potential lower than that of silver, such as Cr, Al, In, B or Ti, or a compound of the element. The additional element functions as a substance suppressing the ionization of silver, resulting in suppressing the yellowing of the panel relatively easily, which leads to the achievement of a PDP capable of displaying an image with high luminance and high picture quality.
