PURPOSE: A method for controlling the power of a wireless access point in a wireless LAN system is provided to prevent unnecessary power consumption at a wireless access node, and reduce interference to a wireless environment of a home. CONSTITUTION: If a wireless terminal requests communication, power report request messages are generated to be sent to a plurality of wireless terminals(300,314). If a wireless access point receives power report signals from the plurality of wireless terminals, the wireless access point detects a power report signal requiring the maximum power, and decides transmission power by using the power report signal requiring the maximum power(302,304,306,316). The wireless access point executes communication with the accessed wireless terminals by using the decided transmission power(308,310,318,322).
