PURPOSE: An apparatus for setting up an incoming bell sound by MIDI sequence, and a method therefor are provided to generate an incoming bell sound having originality by editing stored bell sounds, downloaded bell sounds, sounds of a peripheral environment by MIDI sequence. CONSTITUTION: It is judged whether a new incoming bell sound is set up instead of a currently set incoming bell sound(S100). If not, a sound source is inputted, the inputted sound source is converted into digital signals and is sampled to be stored in file units(S110,S120,S130,S140). If the new incoming bell is to be set up, it is judged whether the incoming bell is processed by MIDI(Musical Instrument Digital Interface) sequence by a control unit(S150). If not, the stored files are searched for to select a random file and to set up an incoming bell(S160,S170). If so, a random file is selected to be processed through fade-in, fade-out, non-sound inserting, and sound source adding processes(S180,S190,S200,S210,S220,S230,S240,S250,S260,S270).
