PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for synthesizing element arrangements from examples. SOLUTION: In an embodiment, element arrangement patterns can be synthesized from example arrangements. In an embodiment, texture-synthesizing technique based on a local vicinity comparison between examples and targets can be combined with procedural modeling based on local growth. When examples are given, the connectability of each element can be composed so that the information in the vicinity of the element may be acquired. A synthesizing process is started with a single seed, and a synthesized pattern can be enlarged by putting new elements one by one on the place of the seed. A reference element can be selected from an example having vicinity characteristics which are most similar to the vicinity characteristics of a target seed in the synthesized pattern. A non-rotational mode, a rotational mode and a flow field mode can be used. A painting tool, a flow field tool and a boundary tool can be provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
