A micro-reactor system assembly, comprising a stack of: at least n process modules, wherein n is an integer equal to or greater than 1, each process module being made from a first material and comprising at least one reactive fluid passage extending between at least one reactive fluid inlet port and at least one reactive fluid outlet port for accommodating and guiding a reactive fluid, wherein, in case of at least two process modules, said at least two process modules are connected in series; and at least n+1 heat exchange modules, each of said heat exchange modules being made from a second material other than said first material and comprising at least one heat exchange fluid passage extending between at least one heat exchange fluid inlet port and at least one heat exchange fluid outlet port for accommodating and guiding a heat exchange fluid, wherein said at least n+1 heat exchange modules are connected in series, wherein each process module is sandwiched between two adjacent heat exchange modules, andwherein said second material is more ductile than said first material.
