PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal combustion engine having an oil level gauge insertion hole that prevents an external dimension from being bulky while maintaining an oil level gauge at an easy-handling length without blocking oil circulation.SOLUTION: An internal combustion engine E having the oil level gauge insertion hole 1 into which the oil level gauge is inserted includes: a port 11 opened in a side wall 101 of a cylinder block 100 having an oil falling passage 102 leading to a crank chamber 300 from a cylinder head 200; a through-hole 12 for communicating the port 11 to the oil falling passage 102; and a partition wall 13 formed between the through-hole 12 and the oil falling passage 102.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
