The present invention relates to a text preprocessing method capable of increasing the accuracy of machine translations through a preprocessing process for replacing words included in a text to be translated with standard words, and a preprocessing system for performing the same. The text preprocessing system comprises: an alternative word database which stores alternative words; and a processor for operating a preprocessing engine which preprocesses an inputted text and outputs a text of the same language as the inputted text, wherein the preprocessing engine identifies, from the inputted text, a word to be replaced, and outputs a text in which the identified word to be replaced is replaced with an alternative word.
