PURPOSE: To provide a safety belt for vehicles that has a rippable seam, adapted to be ripped or unstitched very evenly in multiphase fashion. CONSTITUTION: The safety belt includes a belt webbing section comprising two superposed belt webbing layers 24 and 26 sewn together by a rippable seam 22. The seam sections of the rippable seam 22 extend alternately transversely, or from one side of the centerline of the belt webbing to the opposite side and then at least approximately longitudinally before backing again. In the rippable seam 22,.two adjoining stitches in every seam section extending transversely in relation to the centerline of the belt webbing are offset in relation to each other in the longitudinal direction. |
