The vehicle (1), includes a transmission and an automated clutch controller. An activation unit is regulates a coupling transmitted from the clutch. The controller is linked to a signal transmission. An accelerator pedal activation is detected using electronic units. The controller detects when the pedal of accelerator is activated in a normal step mode. The controller detects a defect or a breakdown of a fault detection system or a signal transmission system. If this is detected then a mode of operation is changed. and commutes in a mode of step urgently so as to prevent a slow roll of the vehicle occurring.
