PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a wavy state of a doctor blade in the case of sandwiching the blade between a doctor retaining lower plate and a doctor retaining upper plate and mounting the blade. SOLUTION: The apparatus for mounting a doctor blade comprises a trestle 21 for placing a doctor retaining lower plate 14 of a doctor holder 10, and a pair of blocks 23, 31 provided on the trestle 21 to grasp both longitudinal sides of the blade placed on the plate 14. Both the sides of the blade are grasped by the blocks 23, 31, and pulled from each other to set the blade to a tensile state. Then, a back plate 18 and a doctor retaining upper plate 12 are superposed on the blade, and the plate 14 is clamped with the plate 12 by a bolt.
