摘要 <p>A fluid transfer device (720) for accessing fluid from vials and ampoules includes a cannula assembly (121) including a cannula (122) having a lumen (138) therethrough connected to a hub (128) having an open proximal end. A filling straw (134) includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a passageway therethrough. The straw further includes a needle portion (141) at the distal end and a shaft portion between the needle portion and the proximal end. A cutting edge (145) is provided at the distal end of the needle portion for piercing a vial stopper. The cannula assembly (121) is removably engaged with the filling straw (134) so that the open proximal end of the hub (128) is in fluid communication with the passageway of the filling straw (134). An elongate shield (755) having an open proximal end (757), an open distal end (758) and a side wall (759) therebetween defining a recess (861) in the shield. The shield (755) is removably connected to the straw (134) so that the shaft portion and the needle portion (141) of the straw are contained within the recess (861). A seal plug (756) having a proximal end (760) and a distal end (764) is provided. The seal plug (756) has a distal position with respect to the shield (755) wherein the seal plug projects distally outwardly from the distal end (758) of the shield for telescoping movement from the distal position to a proximal position wherein the seal plug seals the needle portion (141) to prevent unpressurized fluid communication between the passageway and the exterior of the shield. <IMAGE></p>
