PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for effectively preventing stress corrosion cracking in stainless steel used for piping and the like particularly in an atomic power plant. SOLUTION: This prevention method comprises applying a treatment agent containing 1 to 95 parts by mass of a corrosive-ion adsorbent (b) with respect to 100 parts by mass of a binder (a), on the surface of the stainless steel so as to be 10 to 200 g/m<SP>2</SP>in solid content terms. The component of (a) is a treatment agent containing a moisture-curing type resin and further a coupling agent (c). The component of (b) is hydrocalumite or hydrotalcite. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
