An exhaust purification device for an engine is provided to diffuse additive uniformly and atomize it by arranging an additive injection unit over a diameter reducing part. An exhaust purification device for an engine comprises a catalytic device(16) installed at a ventilating passage of an engine(1); a mixing room whose diameter becomes more and more broad downwards; a swirl generation unit(18) generating a swirl in exhaust gas in the mixing room; and an additive injection unit(19) spraying additive in the mixing room. The swirl generation unit is close to the top of the mixing room. The additive injection unit is arranged beneath the swirl generation unit.
