PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoder inspecting apparatus which is small and inexpensive, and inspects phase interruption and miscount in an A-phase signal and a B-phase signal (incremental signals), without using a Z-phase signal of an encoder to be inspected. SOLUTION: The encoder inspecting apparatus 1 comprises a comparison section 7, which compares the absolute position signal (apso data) output by the encoder 51, which is an object to be inspected, with a counted value of the incremental signal of the encoder 51.
