PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a refrigerating device adaptable for a relatively great fluctuation of a cold load, when occurring within an off-time of a compressor. SOLUTION: The refrigerating device comprises a showcase 32 using the compressor 14, a condenser 16, an expansion valve 24 as a pressure reducing means, and an evaporator 26 to form a refrigerating cycle, provided as the cold load to be cooled by utilizing the evaporation heat of the evaporator 26, and a controller 17 provided as a control device for controlling on/off-operation of the compressor 14 corresponding to the showcase 32 and controlling at least an off-time to be held as set. When at least one of the temperature of the showcase 32 and a physical value correlative to the temperature reaches a set reference value and even if its reaching time falls into the set time, the controller 17 controls on-operation of the compressor 14.
