<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sound effect switching device, a signal processing method, and a program, capable of reducing a sense of incongruity at the time of switching between sound, to which a virtual stereophonic effect produced by listening with headphones is not added and sound to which virtual stereophonic effects are added. <P>SOLUTION: When switching from sound to which the virtual stereophonic effect is not added to sound to which it is added, a sound effect switching device 100 gradually changes a ratio of both sounds in a prescribed time by cross fade processing, whereby the sense of incongruity at switching, from inside-the-head localization to outside-the head localization can be reduced.
