A portable terminal having a dual camera and a photographing method using the same are provided to take and store a moving picture for transmission with ease. A camera module(50) includes a low-pixel camera module and a high-pixel camera module. An image processing module(30) processes an image input from the camera module(50) in a frame unit. A display module(70) is connected to the image processing module(30), and displays a preview image through a screen. A storage module(80) stores image data transmitted from the image processing module(30). A controller(90) stores an image which is input from the camera module(50) to the image processing module(30). The camera module(50) stores an image input from the high-pixel camera module in the storage module(80) when a still image and a moving picture are photographed, and stores an image input from the low-pixel camera module in the storage module(80) when photographing a moving picture for transmission.
