PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To separating a defective component caused by a horizontal charge transfer portion of a solid-state imaging device, and a horizontal mixed color component, a smear component, and a reverse blooming component in a pixel and a vertical charge transfer portion. SOLUTION: The imaging device is equipped with the dertical charge transfer portion 31, the horizontal charge transfer portion 41, and a hold gate portion 51 which selectively stops signal charges in column units to a vertical charge transfer portion 31B of optical black of a first bit horizontally behind a vertical charge transfer portion 31E in a horizontally final stage of a pixel effective portion. When the hold gate portion 51 turns ON and signal charges are transferred from the vertical charge transfer portion to the horizontal charge transfer portion in response to the turn-ON operation, it is judged whether a signal charge is detected at the vertical charge transfer portion of optical black of the first bit horizontally behind to judge whether the detected signal charge is caused by a handled charge amount deficiency or a transfer defect of the horizontal charge transfer portion, or horizontal color mixing, smear, and blooming of the pixel portion other than the handled charge amount deficiency or transfer defect of the horizontal charge transfer portion.
