PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for predicting a saturated swelling amount of a resin by a two-component mixed chemical. SOLUTION: The saturated swelling amount given when the resin is immersed in the two-component mixed chemical is computationally found from expressions 1, 2, and 3. In the expressions,ν<SB>1</SB>,ν<SB>2</SB>, andν<SB>3</SB>represent volume fractions in the swelled resin:ν<SB>1</SB>represents a saturated swelling volume fraction of a first component in the mixed chemical;ν<SB>2</SB>represents a saturated swelling volume fraction of a second component in the mixed chemical; andν<SB>3</SB>represents a saturated swelling volume fraction of the resin. In the expressions,χ<SB>12</SB>,χ<SB>13</SB>, andχ<SB>23</SB>represent Flory-Huggins interaction parameters:χ<SB>12</SB>represents an interaction parameter between the first component and the second component in the mixed chemical;χ<SB>13</SB>represents an interaction parameter between the first component in the mixed chemical and the resin; andχ<SB>23</SB>represents an interaction parameter between the second component in the mixed chemical and the resin. In the expressions, n represents the number of monomeric units between bonding points, and u<SB>1</SB>represents the volume fraction of the first component in the mixed chemical.
