<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spray coating method by which a coating liquid containing solid particles is atomized and applied without deteriorating coating efficiency and settling the solid particles. <P>SOLUTION: A spray gun 1 having a coating liquid discharge port 2 arranged in the center part, a solvent discharge port 3 and a compressed air discharge port 4 which are arranged around the coating liquid discharge port 2 is used. A catalytic ink for an electrode for a fuel cell which contains carbon particles carrying platinum as the coating liquid A is discharged from the spray gun 1 in a state that the coating liquid A is enclosed by a solvent B. Compressed air C is blown to the discharge stream of the coating liquid A and the solvent B to be mixed and atomized and uniformly deposited on an electrolyte film 15 of a material to be coated. Because the coating liquid A is unnecessary to be made low viscous, the settling of the solid material in a flow passage is suppressed to prevent the clogging, and because the coating liquid 1 is sufficiently atomized by the external mixing with the solvent B, it is needless to increase the pressure of the compressed air C above the necessity, and the coating efficiency is improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO |
