A method, comprising: receiving a correlation metric associated with a digital object quality; receiving a digital object; determining a digital variation metric of the digital object; determining, based on at least the digital variation metric and the correlation metric, a quantization matrix for compression of the digital object; and compressing the digital object according to a compression scheme comprising the quantization matrix, wherein the compressing the digital object according to the compression scheme comprising the quantization matrix allows a user to specify a quality, wherein the quality relates to the digital object after decompression.
