PURPOSE:To easily obtain a conductive rubber which has a desired volume resistivity and is suited for producing, e.g. a conductive roller, by incorporating a regulated amount of a conductive material into a rubber and foaming the resulting compound in a regulated expansion ratio. CONSTITUTION:A rubber such as natural or synthetic rubber is mixed with a conductive material (a) (e.g. acetylene black), a foaming agent (b), and other necessary ingredients such as a filler, a processing aid, sulfur, and a paraffinic process oil. The resulting compound is kneaded, extruded, and subjected to desired treatments such as vulcanization. By controlling both the amount of the material (a) and the expansion ratio, a conductive rubber having a desired volume resistivity is obtained. The control of expansion ratio can be attained by changing the amount of the agent (b), regulating the melt viscosity of the compound, and regulating the molding and vulcanization temps. |
