PURPOSE: To obtain an alumina carbon prepared unshaped refractory for molten metal free from deterioration of a working environment, capable of improving processability, inducing no surface peeling in use and enabling the improvement of corrosion resistance and strength. CONSTITUTION: This alumina carbon prepared unshaped refractory is composed of >=60wt.% of an alumina raw material, 2-15wt.% of a carbon raw material consisting of nonvolatile amorphous carbon powder, 2-15wt.% of an alumina intermediate consisting mainly of η, δ, χ and γ-alumina, 2-8wt.% of silicon carbide powder and 0.1-2.0wt.% of boron carbide powder. This process enables the kneading with water, the reduction of volatile materials in use and the suppression of the formation of a low melting material. |
