The switching device has a housing enclosing at least one pivoted operating wiper (2), for displacing a movable contact (3) relative to a cooperating stationary contact (4). The operating surface of the operating wiper has a transparent region illuminated by a light source within the housing, with a reflector (8) attached to the operating wiper. The pivot bearings for the operating wiper are formed integral with the sidewalls of the reflector, the underside of the reflector provided with a foot projection (20) acting as an operating element for the movable contact.
