PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare an aqueous emulsion not containing an organic solvent, having excellent freezing-melting stability and effectively used as a water- and oil-repelling agent, or the like. SOLUTION: This aqueous emulsion is obtained by dispersing the copolymer of a polyfluoroalkyl group-containing (meth)acrylate ester with at least one of a lower alkyl methacrylate, benzyl (meth)acrylate and vinylidene chloride in water in the presence of a nonionic emulsifier containing anα-[1-(allyloxy) methyl-2-(p-nonylphenoxy)ethyl]-ω-hydroxy(polyoxyethylene).
