PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polyester resin having a high melt viscosity, suitable for extrusion molding, and capable of providing an extrusion-molding product having good mechanical characteristics, appearance and transparency, and further to provide a molding product. SOLUTION: This polyester resin comprises (A) dicarboxylic acid components comprising 80-100 mol.% terephthalic acid unit, (B) dihydric alcohol components consisting essentially of ethylene glycol unit, and (C) 0.05-2 mol.% at least one kind of component selected from a tri- or poly-basic carboxylic acid and a polyhydric alcohol compound, and has >=0.50 dl/g intrinsic viscosity [η] measured in a mixed solvent of the same amounts of phenol and tetrachloroethane at 25 deg.C, and 0.8-5 g melt tension at 270 deg.C.
