PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce resin particles while improving the stability of suspended particles without thickening during polymerization by using a dispersion prepared by dispersing a combination of a hydrophobic inorganic oxide with a hydrophilic organic compound and a water-soluble neutral salt in an aqueous medium in which a polymerizable monomer composition has been suspended. SOLUTION: A dispersion stabilizer is prepared by dispersing 100 pts.wt. hydrophobic inorganic oxide, 1-3,000 pts.wt. hydrophilic organic compound such as methyl alcohol, and 0.1-100 pts.wt. water-soluble neutral salt such as sodium benzenesulfonate in an aqueous medium. Next, 0.1-20 pts.wt. above dispersion stabilizer is added to an aqueous medium in which 100 pts.wt. polymerizable monomer composition prepared by mixing a polymerizable monomer such as styrene with a charge controller, a plasticizer, an antioxidant, etc., has been suspended, and the entire mixture is subjected to a polymerization reaction to produce resin particles having a volume-mean particle diameter of 0.1-500μm. The hydrophobic inorganic oxide used is exemplified by hydrophobic silica, hydrophobic alumina, hydrophobic titania, or hydrophobic zirconia.
|
