PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a brake operation property that is a property in the brake operation of a driver, and to use the property for controlling a brake system equipped with an assist device. SOLUTION: The brake operation property of the driver is obtained by dividing the property into an early braking type A reducing a speed early and stopping with a sufficient spare time, a hard braking type C delaying a speed reduction start and stopping slightly like as hard braking, and a standard type B that is a middle type between the early braking type and the hard braking type. The brake operation property of the driver can be obtained on the basis of duration since the vehicular speed lowers to a half of vehicular speed at the time of starting braking till a vehicle stops, an inter-vehicle distance to a preceding vehicle at the time of starting braking, and a following distance during following traveling. In the case of the early braking type as compared with the case of a standard type, the actuation of an assist device is started early, and an assist amount is made to be comparatively small. In the case of the hard braking type as compared with the standard type, the actuation of the assist device is started late, and the assist amount is made to be comparatively large.
