PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a honeycomb structure in which the early activation of the catalyst is possible and the purification capability can be improved.SOLUTION: The honeycomb structure 1 includes a plurality of cell walls 2, and a plurality of cell holes 3 surrounded by the plurality of cell walls 2, and is configured so as the exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine to be passed through the plurality of cell holes 3. In the plurality of cell holes 3, there is formed a protrusion portion 4 protruding toward the center side of the cell hole 3 from the cell wall 2 as viewed from the axial direction X of the honeycomb structure 1. The protrusion portion 4 is formed so as the heat capacity per unit volume to be smaller than the cell wall 2, and between the central part 11 of the whole length in axial direction X and an upstream side end part 12 which is the exhaust gas inflowing side end part, at least one is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
