An image processing apparatus is used for processing of reproducing a target object by applying color onto a structure formed based on a concavo-convex signal indicating a shape of the target object. The image processing apparatus determines, based on concavo-convex data, color data, and color reproducibility, a correction area which is an area in which color reproduction represented by the color data is decreased according to the shape represented by the concavo-convex data. The image processing apparatus corrects the concavo-convex data by smoothing the concavo-convex signal corresponding to the determined correction area. |
