A selected screen, such as a monitoring tool, operating on a remote desktop is exported to a mobile client device, such as a smart phone, tablet, smart watch, etc. The client device polls the remote desktop for images, pointers, commands, etc. relating to the selected screen. The remote desktop provides the requested data to the client device through a command queue maintained by the remote desktop.

1. A method, comprising:
receiving a selection of an open application window on a remote desktop to be mirrored to a client device; generating mirror commands comprising image location information related to the selected open application window; queuing the generated mirror commands on the remote desktop; receiving one or more polling requests from a client device requesting the queued mirror commands; and in response to the received one or more polling requests, transmitting the image location information related to the selected open application window from the remote desktop to the client device; retrieving, by the client device, an image of the selected open application window from a location specified by the image location information; and displaying, by the client device, the image of the selected open application window.
