PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an encoding device capable of reducing the data amount of the overall video stream when multi-viewpoint video is encoded.SOLUTION: When encoding a frame image group representing respective temporal views at each of a plurality of viewpoints, an encoding device encodes a frame image group at a reference viewpoint without using a frame image at another viewpoint as a reference image. A frame image group at a first type view point out of the plural viewpoints is encoded by using, as a reference image, a frame image at the same time at the reference viewpoint or another first type viewpoint, the first type viewpoint having such a spatial positional relationship that another viewpoint is sandwiched between the reference viewpoint and the first type viewpoint. Furthermore, a frame image group at a second type viewpoint which is a viewpoint other than the reference viewpoint and the first type viewpoint and has such a positional relationship that the second type viewpoint is sandwiched by other viewpoints is encoded by referring to a frame image at the same time at two viewpoints between which the second type viewpoint is sandwiched.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
