PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dispense with an image forming element (typically SELFOC lens) in a printing apparatus. SOLUTION: A printing apparatus consists of a light source 24 having a plurality of beam emitting elements for emitting a plurality of laser beams and a medium 30. The medium 30 receives the unchangeable laser beam 26 from the light source 24. The light source 24 is arranged at a position separated from the medium 30 by a predetermined distance, so that the unchangeable laser beam 26 impinges against the medium 30 in a spot size equal to the size of a desired spot corresponding to predetermined printing resolving power.
