Electrically adjustable hydraulic shock absorber for motor vehicle

The shock absorber has a piston which incorporates an electrically adjustable by-pass valve, and the control wire (12) is routed to the valve through the tubular piston rod (4) which has a bore diameter of at least twice that of the wire. The upper mounting (7) comprises an eye (16) with an integral nut (17) with which it is screwed (20) to the piston rod. The control wire bends through an acute angle from the rod axis to emerge through an inclined radial hole (21) in the nut. The radial hole (13) in the wall of the eye is filled with sealant. Alternatively the wire can emerge through a slot in the wall of the eye.
