PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molding tool which is capable of making a shape variable arbitrarily and minutely and maintaining the shape, and a positioning mechanism which is capable of positioning a maintained object arbitrarily and accurately. SOLUTION: The molding tool 1 has one mold 2 and the other mold 11 so provided as to be closable and openable and molds a molded article 46 in a shape conforming to the shapes of shape forming parts 6 and 15 of the two molds 2 and 11, from a molding material 45 supplied between the two molds 2 and 11 by closure of the two molds 2 and 11. The shape forming parts 6 and 15 of the two molds 2 and 11 are constituted respectively of movable type pin arrays 20. The movable type pin arrays 20 are provided with a plurality of pins 21 and guides 26 supporting the pins 21 movably, and each pin 21 is connected to an actuator 40. By driving each pin 21 by operating the actuator 40, the tip of each pin 21 is positioned at a prescribed position and thereby the respective molding surfaces 7 and 16 of the molds 2 and 11 are formed.
