A method of cultivating onions for onion kimchi is provided to produce onions with a more soft texture and appropriate size to eat than conventional onions. Two to four seeds per hole are sown in a seedling pot with 200 to 406 holes using a seed sower from late August to early September and hilled up. The sown pot is moved to a seedling-raising box in a plastic greenhouse, thoroughly watered and covered with a shade covering. After removing the shade covering when a new bud begins to emerge between 5 to 7 days after sowing, a seed bed is prepared. After the sterilization and insecticidal treatment on a seedling raising box between 40 to 50 days after the preparation of the seedling raising box, a ridge between fields is formed to a width of 1.5 to 1.8cm; and onion seedlings are planted with a distance of the planted area of 16cm in width and 22 to 24cm in length or 16cm in length and 22cm in width in the ridge, grown by conventional cultivating methods until harvest and then harvested until from mid February to March before the stem of onion is bent. |
