PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inequality calculator with a function of displaying inequality calculation which displays an easily-understandable solution of an inequality even if the inequality calculator is a standard scientific calculator having no large screen. SOLUTION: For example, when a user selects a quadratic inequality of second order [ax<SP>2</SP>+bx+c] and a symbol of inequality [≤], inputs coefficients a=1, b=-2, c=-4, and the inequality calculator performs an arithmetic operation of the quadratic inequality [x<SP>2</SP>-2x-4≤0], then the inequality calculator decides pattern data [A≤X≤B] for expressing a notation of a solution by using symbols and inequality symbols on the basis of calculated and stored solutions [X1=-1.236067977][X2=3.236067977], the symbol of inequality [≤], and the coefficients [a=1, b=-2, c=-4]. When the user selects and sets a calculator display mode (Line I/O) as a display mode of a calculation result, notation pattern data [A≤X≤B] of the solution is displayed on the upper row of a display section 15, and numerical values of the solutions [X1][X2] corresponding to symbols [A][B] shown in the pattern data are displayed as [A=-1.236067977][B=3.236067977] on the lower row of the display section 15.
