PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device capable of detecting accurately an image carrying medium and the color and the density of an image on the medium, even when the attitude or the shape of the image carrying medium (a paper, an intermediate transferrer or the like) is changed. SOLUTION: An image measuring device used for an image forming apparatus has a single or plurality of first light sources for irradiating light having a prescribed wavelength onto an image formed on the image carrying medium during image formation of the image forming apparatus, a single or plurality of light receiving means for receiving reflected light from the image formed on the image carrying medium irradiated from the light sources, and attitude detection means (a second light source 13 and a second light receiving means 14) for detecting the attitude of the image carrying medium. The image measuring device corrects color information of the image acquired by a combination of the light source and the light receiving means from the attitude of the image carrying medium acquired by the attitude detection means, and measures the image without being affected by an irradiation angle from the light source and a light-receiving angle of the light receiving means.
